Madhya Pradesh cops get remand of rapist held in Bihar

Patna, April 24 (IANS) A Bihar court Wednesday gave Madhya Pradesh Police three-day transit remand of a 35-year-old power plant worker who allegedly raped a minor girl in Madhya Pradesh last week.

Firoz Khan, accused of raping a four-year-old girl in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh, was arrested from Bihar's Bhagalpur district Tuesday, police said.

Bhagalpur Chief Judicial Magistrate R.C. Malviya granted the three-day transit remand to allow investigators from Madhya Pradesh take him to their state for questioning.

"Firoz Khan was hiding at his relative's house at the time of his arrest," said district police official Jameel Asghar.

Khan allegedly raped the minor girl April 17 and dumped her on a farmland in Ghansur town in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh.

The victim's parents found her April 18 morning and got her admitted to a hospital in Jabalpur. She was later shifted to Nagpur in Maharashtra after her condition deteriorated, police said.

Khan, a native of Bihar, worked at the Jhabua Power Plant in Ghansur, police said.

Madhya Pradesh Police earlier arrested co-accused Rakesh Choudhary for allegedly taking the four-year-old girl to Khan.
