Man arrested for killing siblings in east Delhi

A 23-year-old man was arrested for killing an 18-year-old girl and her ten-year-old brother while they were sleeping at their home, police said adding that the accused had also raped the girl after attacking her.

The bodies of the siblings, that of the girl naked, were found Aug 14 in a room on the first floor of their house in Karawal Nagar area of east Delhi.

Police said Mazhar alias Shekhar was arrested Thursday morning when he came to meet an associate near the bus stand near Wazirabad Bridge in north Delhi.

Mazhar told police that he along with an associate Sunny had failed to enter another house which they had recced for theft.

On the same night they found the victim's house was easily accessible.

"Mazhar and his associate attacked the siblings and took away the girl's mobile and Rs 1200 cash," said a police officer.

Mazhar has been involved in nine cases of theft and under the Arms Act in the same area.
