A Bihar-based man was held here for using fake Indian currency notes for shopping and counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs.14,500 were seized from him, police said Thursday.
Vishwanath alias Ajay, 35, who hails from Bihar, was arrested Wednesday from the Sabzi Mandi area, police said.
The accused, who was living in Khandsa village here, was caught with 24 fake notes, police said.
"Five notes of Rs.1,000 and 19 notes of Rs.500 were recovered from him," crime branch chief Sanjeev Balhara told IANS.
Vishwanath said during interrogation that the fake currency was given to him by his friend Ranjan in Bihar, police said.
