A 34-year-old man hanged himself on Sunday night in a police lock-up in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh, less than two days after being arrested on the charge of having killed his wife, police said on Monday.
Sunil Lodhi used his own shirt to hang himself in the lock-up of Kalapeepal police station late on Monday night, A.K. Sharma, superintendent of police of Shajapur, told IANS.
The police were investigating the matter, he added.
Lodhi had been arrested earlier in the day after his in-laws filed a case against him, accusing him of having his wife Chanda Bai murdered.
Chanda Bai was found dead on Friday, apparently having committed suicide.
