Depressed over the failure of his marriage proposals three times in a row within a year, a 22-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside his house, said police Monday.
The incident was reported from east Delhi's Khajuri Khas area around 3.50 a.m. Monday.
Ateeq Ahmed's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan by his family members inside his bedroom.
No suicide note was recovered from his possession.
Ahmed's family members informed police that within one year, his marriage had been fixed thrice but every time it was called off by the families of the girls.
"Two days ago, a recent proposal failed sending him into depression. It might be the reason behind his extreme step," said a police officer, citing the victim's family.
