People attending an election rally in Kashmir Friday caught a man who threw a hand-grenade at the rally in Kulgam district and handed him over to police.
A police officer told IANS here: "People, attending a PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) rally in Ganiwana area (Damhal Hanje Pora tehsil), which was being addressed by local candidate Abdul Majid Paddder, caught 26-year-old Naushad Alam Ganai, who threw a grenade at the rally."
"Luckily, the grenade did not explode and rolled into a drain. People saw Ganai throw the grenade and caught him."
He was later handed over to police.
This is the first such incident after the campaign for the five-phase assembly elections started in the state.
