Ayekpam Wangpa, Vice Chairman of the outlawed United National Liberation Front (UNLF), a secessionist outfit in Manipur, has died at hospital in Myanmar, a UNLF source said on hursday.
Wangpa died in a Yangon hospital on Wednesday due to kidney failure and other health issues, the source said.
"Wangpa's body was brought to Leizik near Thongren," the UNLF source said.
The UNLF is the most influential of the 19 odd rebel armies in Manipur. The outfit since its inception in 1964 has been fighting for an independent homeland for the majority Metei community in the state.
Its Chairman Rajkumar Meghen is lodged in Central Guwahati Jail after he was arrested on September 29, 2010.
