The Himachal Pradesh government and the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Friday signed an agreement to make a medical college and hospital in Mandi town operational from next academic year, a statement said here.
The pact was signed by state's principal secretary, health, Ali Raza Rizvi and ESIC medical college dean D.S. Dhiman in the presence of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here, said an official statement.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said in the initial years, the zonal hospital in Mandi would be attached to the ESIC College for training of the students.
The medical college would initially have 100 MBBS seats, out of these 40 seats would be filled through all India merit, 40 through state merit and the remaining seats would be reserved for wards of ESIC employees and insured persons.
