British entertainer Michael Barrymore is set to make a return to the small screen as an actor.
The funnyman, who became a household name in Britain presenting game shows such as "Strike It Lucky", fell from grace after a man was found dead in his swimming pool in 2001, and he was back in the headlines in 2011 when he was arrested and fined for cocaine possession.
Barrymore has now revealed he is attempting to carve out a new career as an actor, and has been offered his first dramatic role in a hard-hitting Tv show.
"I was offered something yesterday. It is actually for an acting part. I think the role will surprise people. It's dark. When I read the script I was excited and got a good feeling about it," mirror.co.uk quoted him as saying.
Barrymore was one of the highest paid TV stars in Britain. during his heyday in the 1980s and 1090s, but he has remained mostly out of the spotlight in recent years.
