Spaniard Garbine Muguruza outplayed 2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova to advance to the quarter-finals of the French Open tennis tournament for the third straight year here on Sunday.
At a set and 4-2 up Muguruza looked to be cruising towards the finishing line before holding off a late fightback from the Russian to triumph, 6-3, 6-4.
"I'm really pleased to win in two sets. Svetlana has a lot of experience so just had to stay there at the end," Muguruza said after the match.
"Quarter-finals is a great round and I'm really hoping to improve this time."
