Mukul Dev seeks father's help to play Afghan character (TV Snippets)

Actor Mukul Dev, who has been roped in to play a tribal Afghan leader named Gul Badshah in "21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897", says he has been exposed to the Afghan culture since his childhood.

"I was looking for a project that is dramatic, compelling and unlike from what is being currently shown on TV. When I got this offer from Discovery JEET, I was sure that it will be different. And, since the battle of Saragarhi is a landmark in our history, I immediately agreed to be part of it," Mukul said in a statement.

"I have been exposed to the Afghan culture since childhood. My father knows how to speak in Pashtun and Persian and he helped me to get the correct pronunciation and diction. It's a Hindi serial, so I have given it my personal touch too," added the actor, who will be seen on the small screen after a long gap.

"21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897" is a fiction show inspired by the real-life story of 21 brave soldiers of 36th Sikh regiment of the British Indian Army which defended an army outpost at Saragarhi in the North-West Frontier Province against an onslaught by over 10,000 Pashtun and Orakzai tribals in September 1897.

The show will also feature Mohit Raina and Luke Kenny.

Sucheta Trivedi joins 'Ishq Mein Marjawan'

Actress Sucheta Trivedi will next be seen as a social worker named Roma in TV show "Ishq Mein Marjawan".

"I'm extremely excited to portray the role of Indrani. This is a character whose entry will bring a huge plot twist that will keep audiences hooked to the narrative," Sucheta said in a statement.

"Ishq Mein Marjawan" revolves around the life of Aarohi (Alisha Panwar), who lives in Shimla with her family and her husband Deep Raichand (Arjun Bijlani).

"Ishq Mein Marjawan" is aired on Colors.

Karan Oberoi living 'happiest' moment in career

Actor and singer Karan Oberoi, who is all set to make his Bollywood debut with "Strawberry Point", says it is the proudest and the happiest moment in his career.

"For me, it's the proudest and happiest moment of my acting career. It feels fantastic to get inscribed in the cinematic history books by being a part of this film. The feelings heighten up considering there are only 14 such films in the world -- true to its genre -- including Steven Spielberg's first," Karan said in a statement.

The film is directed by Prabal Baruah, who has shows like "CID", "Mano Ya Na Mano" and "Adaalat" to his credit.

Karan had earlier tried his hand at music as well as Indian television.

"I couldn't have asked for a better entry into Bollywood. The English version of the movie will be made to release in the international markets. Hoping it makes us all proud."
