Noted artist Paresh Maity, known for blending 2D paintings with 3D expressions, says his works are easy to understand for the old and the young alike.
The Delhi-based artist is here for the exhibition 'Sounds of Silence', which showcases 50 paintings, sculptures and installations from his vast repertoire spanning 40 years. Some of his art works at display here have never been exhibited in India before.
"My art is easy to understand because I paint what I believe in. What I see and observe, I absorb and that shows in my works. I am happy that even youngsters find them engaging and are keen to learn more," Maity told IANS at the exhibition inaugural here on Saturday.
Bengal-born Maity, who has been honoured with the Padma Shri, has mastery in watercolours and a special liking for painting water bodies.
"I grew up close to lakes, rivers and water bodies and they are of huge importance to me."
He said he liked to portray positivity in his art and his style was "very Indian but with a global quality".
"Art is universal and, therefore, people respond similarly in India as well as abroad," Maity said.
'Sounds of Silence' runs from December 12 to January 16 at CIMA gallery and up to January 7 at the Birla Academy of Art and Culture.
