Myanmar authorities have arrested eight more suspects for their involvement in a sectarian riot which broke out in Mandalay earlier this month, officials said Friday.
The total number of detainees has risen to 42, Xinhua reported.
They were charged with cases of murder, arson, incitement and illegal possession of weapons.
Police authorities are tracking down more suspects, saying that further arrests are expected soon.
A sectarian riot broke out in Mandalay July 1 over an alleged rape case in which two people were killed and 17 injured.
Following the riot, all seven townships in Mandalay have been placed under curfew since July 3.
Meanwhile, a total of 346 other people were also arrested and charged for violation of curfew order.
Out of the 346, 145 were released but the remaining 201 others are still being held.
