India's top rider Sarath Kumar, astride a CBR 150, took the top honours in the Group C 165cc Open class in the first round of the 2014 FMSC National Motorcycle Racing Championship here Saturday.
Sarath held off a strong challenge from Jagan Kumar (TVS Apache) while Mathana Kumar riding a Yamaha R15 finished third.
In the Group D category (165cc), Ankit Gupta from Pune, also on a CBR 150, topped the field ahead of Deva U and Harikiran P.
The second race of both classes will be run Sunday.

Group D 165cc (6 laps): Ankit Gupta (CBR 150, Pune) 1 (14:39.503); Deva U (CBR 150, Chennai) 2 (12:58.652 - 5 laps): Harikiran P (Yamaha FZ, Hyderabad) 3 (12:41.982 - 5 laps).
