Netaji kin approach NCPCR against Trinamool's Sugata Bose

A section of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's family has approached the country's apex child rights body complaining against Trinamool Congress candidate from West Bengal Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency Sugata Bose.

Sugata, a grand nephew of Netaji, has been accused "subjecting a child to potential risks" by involving him during his poll campaigns.

The complaint addressed to National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson was filed May 8 by the Open Platform for Netaji, which comprises a host of descendants of the nationalist leader and researchers steadfastly running a countrywide campaign seeking declassification of secret government files on Netaji.

"Sugata Bose is subjecting a child to potential risks by parading him in military uniform in an election environment which has been marked by uncertainty and violence.

"Since a core mandate of your Commission is to inquire into complaints of violations of child rights, we are hopeful that you will look into this matter without delay," reads the complaint letter signed by Open Platform convener Chandra Kumar Bose, also a grandnephew of Netaji.

The Open Platform which has been campaigning against Sugata who has described the declassification of Netaji files as a "non-issue", have also approached the Election Commission on the issue.

The Open Platform claims that there are over 100 secret files on Netaji with various departments of the central government including the PMO and 64 files with the West Bengal government.
