JD-U leader Nitish Kumar on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting his decision to quit as the Bihar Chief Minister over differences with the RJD.

"I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reacting to the decision I took," tweeted the Janata Dal-United leader who has been asked to continue as Chief Minister by the Governor.

After Nitish Kumar resigned, within minutes Modi congratulated him for "joining the fight against corruption" by quitting as Chief Minister of the coalition government of the JD-U, RJD and Congress.
