The national food regulator on Wednesday clarified that "officials who allegedly figured in a sting operation broadcast by TV channels are not working for it but are employees of the Uttar Pradesh government".

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), through an official statement issued by the ministry of health and family welfare, advised the state government to take stringent action against erring officers.

The clarification comes in the wake of the sting operation on food safety officers in Uttar Pradesh, who were caught on tape while allegedly demanding bribes for approving food products.
