One killed, six injured in Hamburg knife attack

A 50-year-old person was killed and six others injured in a knife attack in a supermarket in German city of Hamburg on Friday, police said.

According to the police, the suspect was detained and "his motive remains unclear", Xinhua news agency reported.

The attacker is a 26-year-old man who was born in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). His nationality is still being clarified, police said in a statement.

The suspect entered the supermarket and suddenly began stabbing customers before running off.
