Another farmer committed suicide due to debt in Madhya Pradesh -- this time in Khargone district, taking the total number of such farmer deaths to 46 in 31 days.
Taake Singh, 50, drank insecticide and died on Tuesday night.
According to information received from Bhikangaon police station, the farmer, a resident of Anjangaon village, died at the government hospital in Khargone.
The farmer had consumed the pesticide eight days ago. He was admitted to the government hospital after his health deteriorated and he died on Tuesday night.
His relatives say that Taake Singh was disturbed as his chilli crop had been destroyed and he was also under debt, and that is why he drank the pesticide.
Ajeet Singh, officer in-charge of Bhikangaon police station, said police is investigating the matter and the reason for suicide will be known only after the probe is complete.
