Moscow, Dec 19 (IANS/TASS) Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday said the dependence on imported technology in the defence industry should be overcome.
"The Russian industry should produce different types of weapons. It is necessary to overcome the dependence on import of technology," Putin said at a meeting at the Russian defence ministry Friday.
"It is important not only to place orders at our enterprises and design bureaus but also to organise production, which will exceed foreign analogues," he said.
The total amount of the state defence order increased 1.5 times in 2014 as compared to last year, Putin added.
Over 4,500 types of weaponry and hardware have been provided to troops. Strategic missile systems were pressed into action and seven strategic bombers were upgraded, the president noted.
