The owner of a truck who had transported two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists to Udhampur to carry out a terror strike was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Tuesday, police said.
"Police in Kulgam today (on Tuesday) arrested the truck owner-cum-conductor who had transported the Pakistani fidayeen to Udhampur. He has been identified as Sabzar Ahmed Bhat, 28, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, resident of Nai Basti, Qaimooh (Kulgam)," a senior police officer told IANS here.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the August 5 terror strike on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district in which two Border Security Force troopers were killed as well as one of the terrorists, had announced a reward of Rs. 2 lakh for Sabzar's arrest.
The LeT terrorists had attacked a BSF bus, killing two troopers and injuring 11. The troopers going to their base after returning from leave were unarmed.
The second terrorist, Muhammad Naveed of Pakistan's Faisalabad had escaped after carrying out the attack but was later over-powered by villagers and handed over to police.
NIA has been making arrests in the case based on his custodial interrogation.
