Eastern India will get its first recreation park for physically- challenged children in Kolkata this year, an official said here.
According to West Bengal's Principal Secretary, urban Development, Debasish Sen, the park scheduled to come up in the satellite township of New Town, will be designed with sensory equipment to help the disabled kids have fun while learning.
"For example, if we place certain features and shapes on the walls or embed Braille then the visually-impaired can also participate in various activities. It will be the first such facility in eastern India and we will encourage children from all over Kolkata and other parts to come," Sen said.
The park's first phase is expected to be completed by Durga Puja in October this year.
