Describing Virender Sehwag as a cricket great, former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday said playing alongside the former dashing opener was a highlight of his career.
"Sehwag is definitely one of the greats of the game and an absolute champion player. It was a huge moment for me playing alongside him. I wish him all the best for the life beyond cricket," said Ganguly.
Sehwag, who donned India colours from 1999 to 2013, announced his retirement on Tuesday.
The only Indian triple centurion, an emotional Sehwag on Tuesday credited Ganguly for bringing out the Test player in him.
"Ganguly sacrificed his opening spot for me, he loved me and had confidence in me. So, thank you Sourav, I am grateful to you. You saw me as a Test player. Had I not played in Tests, I would not have scored these so many runs," the right-hander had said on Tuesday.
