Over 40 new-avatar technologies will be on display at the Annual Innovation Exhibition which President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate at Rashtrapati Bhavan here Friday, an official statement said.

Since 2010, the exhibition is being organised every year at the sports ground of the president estate by the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement Thursday.

"It conveys the president's commitment to support the cause of inclusive innovation and also provides an opportunity to students, investors, entrepreneurs, designers, etc. to join the movement and help in taking green grassroots innovations to the society," it said.

"This year's exhibition will showcase 41 innovative technologies, including seven from students. In addition, community knowledge based herbal products for human, veterinary and plant health will also be exhibited," it added.

There will be on-the-spot 'idea' contests for school students every day and prizes will be announced for outstanding ideas.

The exhibition will be open to public from March 7-13 between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The NIF was set up by the Department of Science and Technology as India's national initiative to support grassroots technological innovations and outstanding traditional knowledge.
