Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Tahir-ul Qadri Tuesday demanded that the leaders found responsible for a clash between the police and his party workers in June should be hanged.
Fourteen people were killed and dozens injured in a clash between police and PAT workers in Lahore June 17. The clash occurred when a police party tried to remove barriers around Qadri's house and the Minhajul Quran Secretariat.
The Judicial Tribunal constituted to probe the tragedy had held Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is the brother of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and the Punjab government responsible for it, Qadri said Tuesday, Dawn reported.
In his speech to the people participating in the sit-in protest here, the cleric said the tribunal had come to the conclusion that the Punjab government was responsible for the carnage in Model Town in Lahore.
He said the rulers can keep their democracy to themselves. "We will introduce a democracy whose hallmark will not be loot and plunder."
