Quack sent to jail for killing patient, burning body

Doctors make every effort to save lives of their patients but this quack not only killed his patient but also spent a few hours with the body, planning to dispose it.

It was this attempt to shift the body wrapped in a bed sheet and to burn it on the city's outskirts which finally did the quack in.

Ismail Hussain, an X-ray technician who was running a clinic with a forged Unani degree certificate, was on Tuesday sent to jail by a city court.

According to police, the quack gave intravenous Metrogyl fluid to a patient named Khaja Nayeemuddin, who had stomach pain and had come to his Hussaini Poly Clinic at Shahali Banda in the old city area of Hyderabad on November 21.

The 45-year-old patient died instantaneously due to overdose of a combination of drugs including Diazeapem, Lorizeapem and Buscopan.

Ismail panicked over this and downed the shutter of his clinic, and waited for sunset.

After wrapping the body in a bed sheet and tying it with a rope, he kept it on his motor-cycle.

As he was about to start the bike, he lost balance and fell down. The quack then sought help from two passers-by. When they enquired as to what he was carrying in the bed sheet, he told them that it was some scrap.

The duo grew suspicious and followed him on their bike.

After reaching a secluded place at Sathmrai in Shamshabad on the city's outskirts, he dumped the body and set it afire.

The duo following him alerted police, who later nabbed him.

A case was registered at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police station, and the accused was on Tuesday produced before the court.

Police investigation revealed that Ismail was working at Bhagwan Devi Hospital as a technician when he took the Unani degree certificate of a doctor.

He later colour-photocopied the certificate and forged it with his name. He had opened the clinic a year ago.

The deceased used to take medicines from him for common ailments.
