Taking a dig at Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi after he was caught on camera with his eyes shut in the Lok Sabha a day earlier, the BJP on Thursday said that "Rahul and relaxation are made for each other".
"As far as he is concerned, Rahul and responsibility don't go together. Rahul and relaxation are made for each other. His act of dozing off in parliament on Wednesday was a tokenism of 70 years. The nation calls him the 'sleeping prince'," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra said here.
"If the Congress had not slept for 70 years, Rahul Gandhi won't require political tourism," he added.
The BJP also hit out at Gandhi's statement that "there was a clash between two ideologies".
"On one side there is Gandhi ji (Mahatma Gandhi), Sardar Patel (Vallabhbhai Patel), Nehru ji (Jawaharlal Nehru) and Babasaheb Ambedkar ji (B.R. Ambedkar). On the other hand, there is RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), Gowalkar (M.S. Golwalkar) and Narendra Modi ji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi)," the Congress leader had said.
In response, BJP spokesperson Vijay Sonkar Shastri said: "I want to tell Rahul ji that Ambedkar ji and Nehru ji had different ideologies. He may not even know that Sardar Patel ji and Nehru ji had different ideologies."
"The Congress has always been against the Dalits. The anti-Dalit mindset of the Congress reflects in the fact that they refused Bharat Ratna to Ambedkar during their rule. Our party has given a clear indication that any policy should first reach the doorsteps of the Dalits and then to others," he added.
