Jammu and Kashmir is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall with a fresh western disturbance (WD) making an approach towards the state on Friday evening, the local Met Office said.

"We are expecting light to moderate rain with thundershowers at a few places in the state during the next 48 hours. WD (Western Disturbance) over north Pakistan and adjoining areas of the state is expected to affect the western Himalayan region and cause rain in Jammu and Kashmir," an official of local meteorological department told IANS.

The weather office said the disturbance will affect the state from May 10 to May 14.

"There will be slight decrease in day temperatures and increase in night temperature during this period," the official said.

Meanwhile, it was a partly sunny morning on Friday in summer capital Srinagar as the minimum temperature was recorded at 14.5 degrees Celsius.

"Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of seven and 9.4 degrees Celsius respectively," the weather man said.

The temperature in Leh town in Ladakh region was 6.9 degrees Celsius on Friday.

The minimum overnight temperature in Jammu was 23.6 degrees Celsius.

A western disturbance is a tropical storm system in the Mediterranean Sea that brings rain and snowfall in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
