Police in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, have formed teams to arrest a group of men who were seen heckling and molesting two women, after a video of the incident went viral on social media. One arrest has been made.
Rampur SSP Vipin Tanda told IANS that the Rampur police, after noticing two women being harassed by a dozen men in a video uploaded on social media, lodged a complaint against them on Saturday.
The incident was shot on May 22, in Kuan Khera village under Tanda police station of Rampur.
"We registered a criminal case under section 364 (a), 364 (b) and the IT Act. A man has been arrested who has revealed his identity as Shahnawaz (23). He belongs to the same area," the SSP Rampur said.
"We have formed five teams to arrest the other culprits," he added.
