Marin Cilic of Croatia moved into the second round at the Rogers Cup after beating Uzbek Denis Istomin 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
The Croatian converted five of his 17 break points through the match, improving his career record against Istomin to 4-1 Monday, reports Xinhua.
Cilic is in 18th place in the current ATP world rankings, while Istomin is 39th.
