Julien Benneteau from France beat former World No.1 Lleyton Hewitt of Australia 6-1, 6-2 to open his Rogers Cup tennis campaign.
The match was interrupted by rain but the weather conditions didn't make the match any harder for the Frenchman, reports Xinhua.
It was the first meeting over five years for the two players.
