Sammer extends Bayern Munich contract

Matthias Sammer extended his contract with Bayern Munich Wednesday and will be the club's sports director until 2018, according to media reports.

"I will continue with the same dedication and intensity as I have had up to now," Sammer said after agreeing to a deal, reports Xinhua.

"We have big goals with Bayern. I want to help us achieve them."

The 47-year-old Sammer has held his position with Bayern since 2012.
