Omsk (Siberia), May 30 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A Siberian man who drunkenly killed his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter with "numerous ax blows" has been sentenced to 16 years in prison, a Russian investigative committee said Wednesday.
In a state of extreme intoxication in February, Andrei Vinter, 29, hit the little girl on the head several times with an ax because she failed to comply with his orders while her mother was away at work, the committee said in a statement.
Some Russian media identified the weapon as a "meat ax" .
The girl later succumbed to the injuries at a hospital, the investigative committee said.
Vinter will serve his sentence in a high security prison.
