Six budding designers are set to present their collections at the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2016 in association with Maybelline NY. The five-day event is scheduled to start from October 7 at the NSIC Grounds here.

The names include Love Birds by Amrita Khanna and Gursi Khan, Ikai by Ragini Ahuja, Dhruv Kapur, Anavila, Shalini James and Nimish Shah (stall designer).

Delighted to showcase theier works, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) president Sunil Sethi said: "We are happy to announce that these uninhibited style gurus will bring a fresh impetuous to the floor, making it an ideal amalgamation of contemporary and traditional designs. They are going to set the bar high by infusing oodles of energy."

Love Birds is label for a modern woman who leads an active life. They are keen on dressing the global woman of the metropolitans, while Ikai by Ragini Ahuja aims to create incredibly practical clothing with relaxed fits and natural textiles that exude luxury with no hint of pretence.

Dhruv Kapur's designs employ discreet detailing to create luxurious, timeless, elegant, utilitarian and unisex clothes from fine, natural and locally sourced fabrics.

Anavila is centered around comfortable and earthy hand woven textiles that are inspired by nature, while Shalini James's label is a potpourri of everything Indian; in silhouettes that are sometimes ethnic, sometimes contemporary, and mostly a unique mix of both.

Nimish Shah, who is showcasing his collection at the stall, will offer a range of sophisticated modern separates.

The fashion week will also witness a collaboration with Elle magazine to launch 'First Cut', a new initiative for emerging designers that recognises India's most promising fashion talent.

The First Cut 2015 designers are The Meraki Project by Sonali Pamnani, Asa by Shreya Oza, Example by Moutushi & Rituraj, Lola by Suman B , Vitasta by Aditi Dhar (accessory) and Dvibhumi by Vyshnavi.
