Those driving on Hyderabad roads without license and being caught more than once for the same violation are landing in jail with a court on Monday sentenced six people including a truck owner and driver to imprisonment ranging from two to six days.
The sixth special metropolitan magistrate sentenced a truck driver for six days as he was caught second time driving the vehicle without license. The truck owner was also sentenced for six days for giving the vehicle toa rule violator.
Two auto-rickshaw drivers, who were caught for the fifth time, were sent to jail for five days. A third auto driver was sentenced to two day imprisonment after he was caught second time for the same offence.

Sending a strong message to those violating traffic rules, the city police on March 1 launched a special drive against without license driving. Police have so far booked 6,864 cases.
Police have also filed 80 charge sheets against the violators. A police official said the drive would continue for the safety of commuters on the road.
The drive was launched after the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety directed that action against traffic violations should not be confined to only fines.
It said the enforcement agencies should invoke provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, envisaging imprisonment.
As per sections 180 and 181 of the act, pople caught driving without obtaining licences can be jailed for three months.
