A suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group was captured in a raid in the Philippines, police said Tuesday.

The suspect was identified as Abdulhalik Ajibon alias Alex Ajibon, Xinhua reported.

Ajibon, 50, was captured Monday after his house in Sacol Island, about half a nautical mile east of Zamboanga City, was raided.

Philippine security forces have intensified a crackdown on Abu Sayyaf in the city after intelligence reports showed the group was plotting an attack.
