At least 17 people were killed and 60 wounded in three bomb attacks here in the Iraqi capital city Monday evening, a police source said.

Nine people were killed and 30 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police checkpoint in northern Baghdad's Kadhimiyah district, Xinhua quoted police as saying.

At least six people were killed and 24 wounded when a roadside bomb exploded at a popular market in Sadr City district in eastern Baghdad, the source said, adding the blast also destroyed several shops.

In a separate incident, two people were killed and six suffered injuries when an explosive-laden car blew up in front of an auto store in Habibiya district in eastern Baghdad.
