A group of Syrians along with members of a Delhi-based NGO Saturday organized a protest march to the US embassy here demanding a stop to the ongoing "war mongering against Syria".
The group of around 40 Syrians, along with members of the NGO Forum of People Against War, marched from the Odisha Bhavan in Chanakyapuri to the US embassy. They were stopped near the British High Commission in the high-security diplomatic enclave.
"The USA in the name of establishing democracy in Syria is playing a war game on the nation," said Munir, a Syrian national and a doctorate from Osmania University who had come from Hyderabad to join the protest.
The US is planning a military strike on Syria over the alleged use of chemical weapons on Aug 21 in Damascus, a charge the Bashar al-Assad regime has denied.
The protest was also joined by students of the Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharal Nehru University.
