A 40-year-old trader from Tamil Nadu was on Tuesday found shot dead in an upscale hotel here, police said. He had been killed overnight.
The deceased was identified as Sameer. He hailed from Tiruppur near Coimbatore.
Police said the textile businessman checked into The Fern Residency in Sector 29 on July 24. He reportedly wanted to purchase property in Gurgaon and carried a lot of cash.
"The victim had one bullet on his forehead. He was shot from close range. The victim died on Monday night," Deepak Mathur, a senior doctor who conducted the autopsy, told IANS.
An unlicensed 7.6 mm pistol was found near the body. "At this stage, it is was not clear if it was murder or suicide," police officer Surender Singh Phogat told IANS. No suicide note was found.
