Tension prevailed in Hathin town of Haryana Wednesday following a clash between two communities. The authorities have imposed curfew in the area to control the situation.

Police said that the clash, which happened Tuesday night, led to a few shops being set on fire. It took place between members of two communities over a place of worship.

"Over 10 vehicles, including cars, were also set on fire in the clash," a police officer said.

"The situation is now under control. We have imposed curfew in the area. Additional police reinforcements have been rushed to the place," said Inspector General of Police (South Range) Mamta Singh, who reached Hathin.

Hathin town, 120 km from New Delhi, falls in Palwal district of Haryana.

Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said further steps were being taken to ensure peace in the affected area.
