Three people were arrested for duping unemployed men and women on the pretext of getting them jobs in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), police said Sunday.

Jaswant Singh, 42, Baljeet Singh, 59, and Parvinder Singh, 36, were arrested from Rohini area in north Delhi Saturday, an official said.

The accused used to target unemployed men, travelling in trains, with the promise of getting them employment in the CISF, police said.

"They used to carry walkie-talkies, fake ID cards and also wore fake CISF uniforms while travelling in trains, so as to convince their victims that they actually worked in the CISF," said a police officer.

Police said the accused recently cheated a national-level woman boxer from Chandigarh inducing her to pay Rs.1 lakh on the false promise of direct recruitment in the CISF against sports quota.

"She was given a fake appointment letter and told to join the CISF national training centre in Hyderabad. However, when she reached Hyderabad, she was told that the letter was fake," the officer added.

Police said they had duped at least six victims this year and 11 victims in 2012. Apart from this, as many as 23 victims have filed police complaints alleging that they had paid the gang money for getting jobs.
