A working committee member of the Tamil Nadu state BJP is battling for life after she set herself afire following the murder of a party state general secretary.
Rajarajeswari attempted self-immolation at Salem, 340 km from here, after V. Ramesh was hacked to death Friday night by unidentified people.
"She was disturbed over Ramesh's murder. She is in a serious condition in a hospital in Salem," K.T. Raghavan, spokesperson of the Tamil Nadu state BJP, told IANS.
He said Rajarajeshwari is a working committee member of the BJP's state unit and the organiser of the party's women's wing.
The state government has set up a special investigation team to unravel the murder and nab the killers.
