Three minors were burnt to death after a fire broke out in the city in the small hours of Tuesday, police said.
According to them, the fire broke out around 1.30 a.m on Tuesday in Patarkuchi area of Guwahati and engulfed 12 adjoining houses before the fire brigade team arrived on the scene.
"As the fire broke out, people rushed out of their homes and tried to douse the fire. But the three minors remained trapped in the blaze," said one of the eyewitnesses. Police recovered the minors' charred bodies later.
"We are trying to establish the cause of fire. Locals are alleging that some miscreants set the houses on fire over some past issue with the residents," said a senior police official.
