Attacking the erstwhile Left Front regime, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said her government acts while others just discuss the issue of development.

"Some people only talk about development. We do not speak of development but show it in action. The development speaks for itself. They have done nothing for this district," Banerjee said at a function in Mathurapur in South 24 Parganas.

Launching the 'Sabuj Sathi' scheme in the district, Banerjee, also the Trinamool Congress supremo, accused the central government of slicing away the state's share of funds.

"You voted for us in accordance with political right. But Left Front took away the economic rights, Congress didn't give it neither did the BJP," she said, stressing on reaching out to the grassroots.

"One can't work for development by sitting at home," she said.

Banerjee claimed Bengal's Gross Value-Added growth in 2014-15 was 10.48 percent as compared to the national average of 7.5 percent.

Under the 'Sabuj Sathi' scheme, 5,000 cycles will be given on Monday and more than 1 lakh in January, she announced.

Banerjee said that in 2016, the focus will be on skill development of students.

She also cautioned people against giving in to provocations.

"Do not give in to provocations to damage the harmony of our state," she added.
