A district level leader of the Trinamool Congress was beaten to death in West Bengal's Hooghly district and one person has been arrested in this connection, police said on Monday.
Sheikh Mukhtar of Madhurpur was beaten to death on Sunday. Based on his family's complaint, Sheikh Akhtar Ali Khan, 45, has been arrested, a police officer said.
A family member of the deceased alleged that the incident was a result of the party's internal feuds but the police said they were looking at all possible angles.
