Two new polio cases were reported in Khyber Agency on Tuesday, taking the total number of registered cases in Pakistan this year to 32.
According to the chief minister's polio control cell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa there are now 10 registered cases of polio in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), 13 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, five in Balochistan and four in Sindh, Dawn online reported.
FATA along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was declared the hub of the polio virus which poses a threat to children.
FATA recorded an alarming 179 polio cases and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 68 cases out of the 306 cases reported countrywide in 2014.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries where the polio virus remains endemic.
