Two JeM militants, hailing from Pakistani Kashmir, were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday, police said.
A police officer told IANS that the gunfight ensued after a patrol party of the state police's SOG (special operations group) was fired upon in Hari village near Tral town in Pulwama in the afternoon.
Security forces including the SOG and troops of 42 Rashtriya Rifles engaged in a pitched gunfight with the militants to prevent their escape, he said.
"Two militants belonging to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit have been killed. They have been identified as Burmee and Adil Pathan, both belonging to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir," the officer said.
He said searches were going on in the area for other militants.
