Armed robbers shot dead two passengers aboard a Hatia-bound train in Bihar, police said Sunday.
The robbers opened fire at passengers Saturday late in the night for resisting robbery attempt on the Gorakhpur-Hatia Maurya Express near Hathidih railway station, some 110 km from here, Government Railway Police official Upender Kumar Sinha said.
The dead were identfied as Sanjay Yadav and Mintu Kumar.
According to passengers, there was no police escort on the train at the time of the incident.
"We have started a probe into the incident and will take action against officials found guilty of negligence of duty," Sinha said.
The robbers escaped after pulling the chain at Barahiya railway station, police officials said.
