Two people were beaten to death by a mob in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh Saturday for allegedly stealing buffaloes, police said.
The incident occurred in Fariha village. Superintendent of Police officer Rakesh Singh told IANS bodies of Nanhe Khan and Surendra were recovered from a farmer's field.
Upon investigation, police found the two allegedly stole cattle from village head J.P. Yadav's shed a fortnight back.
The villagers beat them to death on suspicion they were moving about with the intention of stealing someone else's cattle.
Police have slapped cases against the village head and seven others for murder.
