At least two policemen were killed and several others injured when a speeding truck hit a police van in Odisha's Jharsuguda on Friday.
The accident occurred when the van carrying Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) personnel collided head on with a speeding truck on NH-49 in Belpahar in Jharsuguda district, police said.
The policemen were on way to Banharpali in Jharsuguda for deployment ahead of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's scheduled visit to the district.
The Chief Minister announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of the kin of the two police personnel. He also announced a government job each for the deceased's family members.
